This intimate boutique hotel features 15 uniquely styled rooms and villas, perfectly situated right on a beautiful Beach in Plettenberg Bay. Its prime beachfront location offers stunning ocean views and direct access to the sand, providing a luxurious coastal retreat.

Currently operating a 15-key boutique hotel with:

  • Luxury rooms and suites featuring private terraces and top-tier amenities
  • Outdoor swimming pool, a garden terrace, a fire-pit lounge area,
  • Offers a vibrant beachfront dining experience with a menu that showcases fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen leadership team and help deliver exceptional dining experiences to discerning guests. This role is key to maintaining and enhancing the hotel’s reputation for culinary excellence during an exciting expansion phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and events
  • Support the Head Chef with menu planning, food costing, and seasonal dish development
  • Supervise and train junior chefs, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork
  • Maintain strict hygiene, safety, and quality control standards (HACCP compliance)
  • Manage stock levels, supplier relationships, and ordering processes
  • Assist with event catering and special functions, ensuring premium guest experience

Desired Experience & Qualification

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Live in the Garden Route area
  • 3–5 years experience as a Sous Chef in 4★ or 5★ hotels, luxury lodges, or high-end restaurants
  • Creative culinary skills with strong attention to detail and plating aesthetics
  • Leadership ability to motivate and manage a kitchen brigade in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and procurement processes
  • Passion for seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and contemporary cuisine
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards

 

Salary: R18,000 per month gross (note this is a live out position)
