SUMMARY:  The Driver is primarily responsible for providing warm and friendly interactions with hotel guests. S/he is responsible for providing guests with safe means of transportation in the hotel van.

The Driver shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Hotel’s Culture and Core Hotels & Resorts’ Core Values.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Transport guests in the hotel van within property requirements.
  • Safe and efficient driving while obeying all laws, transporting guests.
  • Maintain clean and neat appearance of shuttle can as well as yourself in uniform.
  • Monitor shuttle van ensuring it is always in safe operating condition and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Flexibility with schedule and assignments.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Always maintain positive guest relations.
  • Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist guests with hotel and area information. 
  • Immediately report to the manager or supervisor anything that occurs which may potentially jeopardize the ability to operate a motor vehicle physically or legally.
  • Provide safe and comfortable transportation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of both interior and exterior of van.
  • Maintain mileage records daily.
  • Report all trips to the front desk including length and time spent on driving.
  • Assist guests with packages, suitcases, trunks, and luggage as needed.
  • Relay appropriate tourism information to guests.
  • Ensure all shift duties are completed.
  • Assist staff with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Observe guest reactions and confer frequently with staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Assist guests with reports of lost/stolen articles, following hotel policy.
  • Wash, vacuum, dust, refuel and perform safely checks and inspections on van.
  • Inspect tires and tire pressure before each use.
  • Check all fluids regularly, including but not limited to, transmission fluid, engine coolant, break fluid, power steering fluid and windshield washer fluid.
  • Adhere to hotel requirements for guest/employee accidents or injuries and in emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Associate is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years customer service experience preferred
  • Two years of professional driving experience
  • Basic computer and telephone skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong command of English
  • Other languages helpful

 

JOB REQUIRMENTS:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must have excellent phone etiquette
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record for the past three years
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • Must be highly detailed orientated
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent listening skills
  • Must possesses excellent communication skills
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Skilled in problem solving by identifying the problem and working through it.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to sit in the hotel van for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to drive safely in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must have good vision, either natural or with corrective lenses.
  • Must have good hearing.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally. 
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat).
