POSITION SUMMARY: The Hybrid Prep Cook/Dishwasher at one of Oxford’s luxury or boutique-style hotels plays a dual-role, combining responsibilities in food preparation and kitchen sanitation. This position supports culinary operations through accurate ingredient preparation, maintenance of cleanliness and organization in all back-of-house areas, and deep cleaning of kitchen equipment. By contributing to both food production and cleanliness standards, the individual enables the culinary and service teams to consistently deliver exceptional Four-Star guest experiences across restaurant, banquet, and in-room dining outlets.

 

This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented approach, strong communication skills, and the flexibility to shift between prep and dishwashing duties as operational needs require. The Hybrid Prep Cook/Dishwasher embodies Oxford Collection’s commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times. Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations.  Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.

                

Food Preparation & Kitchen Support (50%)

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards
  • Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list
  • Receive food and supplies shipments, stocking and labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
  • Washing, chopping, sorting and measuring ingredients 
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, starting first steps in various dishes
  • Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing kitchen daily
  • Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
  • Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply
  • perform the cleanup of the restaurant area

 

Dishwashing & Sanitation (40%)

  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize all dishes, cookware, and utensils.
  • Sort and store clean items in designated areas.
  • Deep clean kitchen equipment (fryers, ovens, grills) as directed.
  • Sweep and mop floors, clean handwashing sinks, wipe down surfaces, and empty trash, compost, and recyclables regularly.
  • Maintain dish station cleanliness, including garbage/recycling bins.

 

Guest & Team Support (5%)

  • Greet and acknowledge guests as they enter the dining area, providing a high level of customer service to ensure every aspect of their experience exceeds expectations.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests
  • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests

 

Other (5 %): 

  • Assist with hotel-related tasks in other departments when needed.
  • Complete shift notes and daily logs for kitchen operations.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation protocols as outlined by Oxford Collection and regulatory agencies.
  • Report maintenance needs promptly to supervisor or General Manager.

 

Additional tasks may be assigned, modified or changed as no employee has any inherent right to any particular job or authority.

PREFFERED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous culinary experience preferred
  • Hospitality / hotel work experience preferred

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Food handler’s license and liquor server permits as required by state law (or ability to obtain)
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and consistent attendance

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to list 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions
