Position Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician II to join our team at Church Street Inn. In this role, you’ll take the lead on a variety of maintenance projects — ensuring the safety, functionality, and beauty of our property. From troubleshooting technical issues to performing preventative maintenance, you’ll help us deliver the high-quality guest experience that defines Charleston hospitality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest units, buildings, and common areas

  • Safely and effectively use hand and power tools for a wide range of maintenance tasks

  • Diagnose and repair issues in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems

  • Install, service, and repair appliances with minimal supervision

  • Conduct preventative maintenance to keep equipment and facilities in top condition

  • Inspect rooms and resort areas to identify potential problems before they affect guests

  • Address safety hazards immediately and report issues to management

  • Prioritize and complete daily assignments efficiently, communicating progress with the front desk and maintenance team

  • Maintain the overall appearance of the property by cleaning, organizing, and performing light upkeep tasks

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with groundskeeping, painting, and exterior maintenance projects

  • Power wash exterior areas and walkways as needed

  • Prepare and secure property during severe weather events

  • Assist guests with special maintenance needs to enhance their stay

  • Collect and dispose of trash and debris as required

Qualifications

Education & Credentials

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • EPA Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, or a related trade

  • Proficiency in at least one technical area (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance systems, tools, and safety standards

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues independently

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized

  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and guest-ready environment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position involves working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. You’ll frequently:

  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

  • Use manual tools and power equipment regularly

  • Climb, kneel, crawl, or squat as tasks require

  • Work flexible hours — including evenings, weekends, and holidays — to meet operational needs
