Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and repair maintenance work to ensure hotel is maintained according to established quality and sustainability standards while treating guests in a warm and friendly manner
- Working on basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical and carpentry repairs
- Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders related to replacing and repairing ceiling tiles, sheet-rock and wallpaper
- Install or repair sheet rock and other wall coverings
- Paint designated areas and items
- Replace basic electrical fixtures, light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures
- Perform minor plumbing functions
- Focus on guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
- Maintain the curb appeal including but not limited to snow removal, lawn care, gardening and trash removal
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and comply with MSDS standards
- Perform other duties as requested by management
- Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends and alternate shifts
- Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling and climbing.
COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
- High school diploma
- 1-3 years building maintenance experience required, hotel environment preferred
- Painting and plastering experience necessary
- Previous trade (electrical and/or plumbing) experience an asset
- Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service skills
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, safety awareness information, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondence
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Long periods of time spent standing, with frequent bending
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
