Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and repair maintenance work to ensure hotel is maintained according to established quality and sustainability standards while treating guests in a warm and friendly manner
• Working on basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical and carpentry repairs
• Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders related to replacing and repairing ceiling tiles, sheet-rock and wallpaper
• Install or repair sheet rock and other wall coverings
• Paint designated areas and items
• Replace basic electrical fixtures, light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures
• Perform minor plumbing functions
• Focus on guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
• Maintain the curb appeal including but not limited to snow removal, lawn care, gardening and trash removal
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and comply with MSDS standards
• Perform other duties as requested by management
• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends and alternate shifts
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling and climbing.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

• High school diploma
• 1-3 years building maintenance experience required, hotel environment preferred
• Painting and plastering experience necessary
• Previous trade (electrical and/or plumbing) experience an asset
• Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service skills
• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, safety awareness information, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondence
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Long periods of time spent standing, with frequent bending
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
