Description

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Washes, dries, and folds linen from various departments of the hotel.
  • Sorts linen and terry to maintain organization.
  • Continually promotes positive communication and respect with other departments.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/PRE-REQUISITES:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Able to operate commercial laundry equipment.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Works at highest level of production, continually using production schedules.
  • Receive and sort soiled linen into appropriate containers.
  • Process sorted linen utilizing the washers, dryers, sheet spreaders, ironers, and feeder/folders ensuring finished product is inspected and meets quality standards.
  • Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed, damaged linens, to ensure laundry operation is running at maximum efficiency level.

PRIMARY DAILY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Keep exit door unobstructed.
  • Sort soiled linen into appropriate containers.
  • Maintain assigned work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Get carts ready every morning for housekeepers.
  • Runs sheets through ironer/folder.
  • Keep all banquet and restaurant linen clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDE LIFTING AND PUSHING):

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending while loading/unloading washers/dryers, sorting linen and folding.
  • Minimum lifting of 50 pounds of linen.
  • Able to stand or be on feet 100% of the time.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds of linen.

  • Commercial washer
  • Commercial dryer
  • Commercial ironer
  • Commercial folder

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • No formal education is needed.
  • Ability to read operating instructions on equipment used in department.
  • Ability to speak in language understood by guests and co-workers.
