Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR operations for Grand America Hotel and Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. The two properties are situated directly across the street from each other and operate as a unified hospitality team. The Director will lead a team of HR professionals to deliver best-in-class HR services while fostering a strong employee experience, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting property-level leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the complex VP, General Managers, and property leaders
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with hotel business goals
  • Lead change management initiatives, workforce planning, and organizational design

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure consistent HR practices across both hotels, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and separations
  • Oversee HR compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local labor laws
  • Manage audits, investigations, and employment-related risk mitigation

Talent Management

  • Lead workforce planning, staffing strategies, and succession planning
  • Oversee performance management processes and training initiatives

Compensation & Benefits

  • Partner with Total Rewards to administer compensation programs, benefits, and recognition initiatives
  • Ensure fair and equitable pay practices and participate in market benchmarking when needed

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and service excellence
  • Lead employee feedback programs (e.g., engagement surveys) and action planning
  • Guide conflict resolution, coaching, and development conversations

HR Team Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing HR team
  • Provide mentorship and career development to HR direct reports
  • Establish service standards and operational workflows across HR functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly desired
  • 8–10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Prior hospitality or large-scale multi-unit operations experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing HR teams in complex environments
  • Deep knowledge of employment law, compliance, and employee relations
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
