Introduction

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Financial Reporting Accountant for our property development and management company. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the financial operations of our projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Role Description

The Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial results for a group of hotels and to support both the Financial Manager and Hotel General Managers with financial tasks and projects.

 

Core Activities

  • Lead a team of Bookkeepers and Hotel Administrators ensuring accuracy of financial data and adherence to deadlines.
  • Plan and execute daily, weekly and monthly financial processing tasks
  • Review weekly and monthly supplier payments
  • Perform, review and/or approve balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform, review and/or approve supplier reconciliations
  • Review the financial results for the hotels together with the Hotel General Manager to ensure financial hygiene of transactions in line with company policies.
  • Perform complex reconciliations for group and hotel specific accounts
  • Support the Hotel General Managers with accounting related enquiries
  • Review the financial results for the hotels in conjunction with the General Manager ensuring accounting accuracy
  • Completeness of financial records and supporting documentation

  • Generate and submit reports in a timely manner ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Documents project and regular work progress accurately
  • Provide assistance and input to other business disciplines
  • Manage and execute assigned tasks and projects
  • Analyze information and evaluate results

Desired Experience & Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of accounting principles and how it applies to the position
  • Demonstrate ability to perform complex account reconciliations
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and ability to provide support to staff both inside and outside of the finance discipline.
  • Demonstrates ability to use computers and computer systems to process data and analyze information
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrate ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively across business disciplines and with various stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a junior to mid-management accounting position
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field will be advantageous
  • The ideal candidate should hold a SAIPA qualification, bringing expertise and professionalism to our finance team.
