Position Overview

We are seeking a visionary Executive Chef to lead a diverse and dynamic culinary program that spans:

  • Two distinct restaurants, including an exclusive members-only dining venue.
  • Blend Café, our seasonal coffee shop, is frequented by hotel guests, boaters and locals for coffee, snacks and picnics.
  • A robust in-room dining program.
  • Seasonal poolside menus.
  • A high-volume banquet and catering operation serving social gatherings, member events, and corporate functions.

This role is ideal for a culinary leader who understands the importance of blending guest-favorite classics with innovative, trend-forward dishes—enhancing our competitive edge in Newport’s vibrant culinary scene.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all culinary operations with a focus on consistency, creativity, and excellence across all outlets.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Oversee menu planning and development in alignment with seasonal trends, guest feedback, and operational goals.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety, efficiency, and compliance with health regulations.
  • Achieve budget goals, control food and labor costs, and optimize profitability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Food & Beverage leaders, Banquets, Events, and other departments.
  • Interact with guests and members to elevate the culinary experience and address feedback.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Culinary Program or Apprenticeship; associate's or bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a culinary leadership role within a high-volume environment.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and execute multiple dining concepts simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of menu development, budgeting, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Micros, and other hospitality platforms.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Serve Safe Certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
