BUYER JOB DESCRIPTION

The individual in this role is well organized, detail-oriented and enjoys the challenges of working with a variety of situations, is proactive, resourceful, and efficient. This position requires independent thought, strong follow up and the ability to manage small projects and tasks on their own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project administration for an assigned Project Manager/Asset Manager.
  • Ensure projects are ordered, tracked, documented and completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for SOP compliance on all project documentation.
  • Responsible for sourcing alternative products and vetting of new vendors.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training of new hires.
  • Ability to manage smaller projects from beginning to end with Purchasing Manager review.
  • Displays independent thought on following up on critical issues and timelines.
  • Develop the skills to interpret architectural drawings and calculate critical measurements.
  • Responsible for the effective and accurate performance of assigned administrative and purchasing functions.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, receive quotes, review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Track products with shipping agents for payment and delivery, managing the entire process from front end to back end.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely transactions in the purchasing system.
  • Work with the accounting team to ensure timely payment to suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain reports/metrics on purchase order progress.
  • Take on additional projects as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently on projects and tasks, as well as, to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Possess strong organizational, mathematical and data entry skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs, and work collectively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity working with multiple cross-functional partners.
  • 2-4 years experience purchasing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • 1-2 years experience with hotel renovations.

Education/Certification

  • College degree preferably in a business-related area. Job-related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Purchasing certification, a plus (CPP, CSCP)
