POSITION PROFILE


The Bar General Manager manages all aspects of the Lefty’s Bar, programming, events and activations. They are also responsible for the selection, development, and performance management of bar employees. They oversee all bar inventory and ordering of spirits, NA beverage, beer and bar supplies, and facilitate all bar related staff education. They drive bar revenue and control beverage COGS, working to achieve all budgeted goals. This position reports directly to the hotel General Manager with indirect operational reporting to the ERHG group.

THE TASK AT HAND:

Manage Daily Floor Shifts:

  • Oversee staff setup and breakdown of the bar, assign and check daily side work
  • Strategize on the management and staffing plan for service
  • Check in with the chef team daily to review any menu changes, print menus if needed
  • Hold daily line ups with staff to review reservations, nightly focus, and menu changes
  • Maintain POS menus and settings and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Ensure ERHG service and hospitality standards are met during every service
  • Follow all Palisociety protocols and processes.
  • Ensure positive guest service in all areas.
  • Respond to complaints, taking all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
  • Be a leader in hospitality, radiate warmth on the floor, set the example for your team
  • Be purposeful in creating a fun, positive bar environment for staff and guests
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
  • Prepare End of Day emails to company managers, corporate and partners to communicate the bars daily performance, including sales, VIPs, and incidents of note


Position Responsibilities:

  • Bar: Oversee all bar operations, including bar organization, ordering, inventory, cleanliness and staff education, working with the ERHG Bar Director when needed.
  • Staffing: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of bartender staffing needs at all times. Oversee ads, interviews, hiring, orientation, onboarding, and training of all new bartenders.
  • Training & Development: Develop bar employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations, providing ongoing education, and conducting performance reviews with clear feedback. Personally oversee disciplinary action and termination of bartenders in partnership with the hotel General Manager.
  • Financial: Oversee bar financial performance, tracking bar sales and cost on bartender labor, liquor, N/A, and beer. Manage daily cash flow and any cash deposits, perform all month-end inventories and complete variance commentary on financial results.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Works diligently with ERHG, Arrive/Palisociety, Events & Sales/Marketing teams to activate the bar spaces, host events, and drive revenue.
  • Payroll: Run weekly payroll, review daily clock-ins, and manage the weekly tip pool
  • Maintenance: Report issues to the property maintenance team and help facilitate repairs as needed whether structural, equipment or aesthetic. Work closely with the property maintenance team on all maintenance issues so that repairs happen in a timely manner.
  • HR: Coordinate with the Corporate HR team for all employee relations issues, following all processed and protocols per company standards and SOPs.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and participates in the property Safety Committee.
  • Maintains a clean and properly styled space following all SOPs and style guidelines.
  • Events/Programming/Activations: Help oversee the execution of in-house events with the Events/Sales Team as well as hotel programming leadership and ERHG leadership.


Communication:

  • Meetings: Attend bi-weekly manager meetings with partners and corporate to analyze weekly profit & loss statement and report on the overall health of the restaurant
  • Attend daily meetings with ERHG leadership as required.
  • Management Meetings: Attend bi-weekly internal meetings to keep the entire management team on track, motivated, goal-oriented, and aligned.
  • Team Communication: Keep management team and the corporate teams fully informed of all major issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests courses of action.

  • Complete job responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with Palisociety company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to promote a harmonious work environment, boosting morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness
  • Provide a favorable image of the company, including restaurant cleanliness (inside and out) and upholding staff appearance/uniform standards.
  • Prioritize keeping the FOH team motivated and engaged daily, diligently working to keep morale high and foster a healthy, positive work culture
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by corporate and partners.

  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Communicate with CDC effectively concerning consistent high quality of food presentation.
  • Must be ServSafe Manager certified and uphold all ServSafe guidelines.
  • Must be TABC certified.
  • Must be flexible in hours and shifts, hours will vary.
  • Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level.
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
  • Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operate phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.
