WHO WE’RE SEEKING:

We’re seeking a unique individual who will embody the heart and soul of the Fort Worth Stockyards while caring deeply about our brand and community – someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. This person is driven to create meaningful experiences for our team members, guests, and community while simultaneously ensuring financial and operational success of Hotel Drover. This person is responsible for accounting functions within the Hotel Finance Department and is instrumental in ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, subsidiary journals, taxes and licenses, and external reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for management, review, and accuracy of general ledger, account reconciliations, month-end closing procedures, and financial statements

• Responsible for documentation and implementation of accounting policies, processes, and standard operating procedures

• Responsible and accountable for regulatory and filing issues

• Participate in developing overall operating guidelines and principles for property

• Ensure accuracy of all accounting data used in filings for licenses, taxes, contacts, etc.

• Review and advise on daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports to the property

• Continuously maintain and resolve problems with operational and accounting systems to ensure accuracy of reporting

• Provide tools and metrics for the accounting department to analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of their work

• Supports a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability, and manage business risks. Focus areas include but are not limited to: cash handling, receipts, disbursements, and fixed asset schedules

• Conduct risk assessment of balance sheet accounts and help maintain balance sheet account reconciliation policy

• Ensure account balances are fully supported by appropriate source documentation

• Assist with monthly flux analyses

• Ensure clean financial audits

• Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting to Ownership, Management Company, Internal Departments, and Internal/External Auditors

• Provide operational, regulatory, and ad hoc reports, as required

• Create a department that is proactive and responsive and schedule, evaluate, train, develop, and monitor team members

• Review leases, contracts, agreements, subcontracts, and licenses from an accounting perspective

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MUST HAVES:

• Solid training in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Credit, Collections, Audit, Inventory Control, Payroll, Costing, P&L preparation and analysis, etc.

• Work closely with Front Office, Reservations, Sales and F&B Departments to assist in identifying optimum ways to drive revenues while balancing market segments

• Able to Identify opportunities for continuous improvements and automation in business processes

• Adhere to all policies stated in the team member handbook

• Work in alignment with our shared values and act as an extension of our family of brands

• A love for the history and future of the FW Stockyards

• Superior attention to detail

• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Hotel Management or Business required

• Minimum of 3+ year(s) of experience required

• On property, multi-property, or shared service hotel experience a plus

• CPA (or in the process of obtaining their certification) a plus

• Analytical approach to problems with high regard for detail and accuracy

• Highly skilled in spreadsheet and word processing software; experienced with Macros, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experienced in financial and Hotel software applications (M3, Opera, etc.)
