The Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is looking for a Spa Assistant Manager who fully embodies our values, shares a passion for excellence, and infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. As Spa Assistant Manager, you will be accountable for shaping the client experience by providing exceptional service in support of our world-renowned hotel. This position reports to the Director of Spa for New York Downtown.

BASIC PURPOSE

Spa Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the daily activities of the Spa, Gym and Wellness area. The Spa Assistant Manager oversees all aspects of the department including interviewing and training staff, monitoring the facilities with the assistance of Engineering and Housekeeping, coordinating daily schedules for massages and treatments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Spa Manager creates Spa Menus and a tasteful environment, is aware of current market trends and is able to sell Spa Retail in a creative and successful manner.
  • The ability to assist the Spa Director with the supervision, management, and growth of the staff
  • Interview, train, schedule, monitor employee performance, discipline, and complete payroll for all personnel who report to him/her.
  • Oversee fitness equipment and spa maintenance
  • Monitor operating supply funds for the Spa Department and generate necessary purchase orders
  • Monitor the housekeeping standards and mechanical effectiveness of all facilities, report deficiencies as they occur and follow-up.
  • Assist the Spa Director in monitoring all facility and service standards in line with Forbes 5 Star standards and keep him/her appraised of any operational opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard free environment for all staff and members and promote safety awareness at all times.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records and statistics in the Spa.
  • Develop all operation manuals for department and implement training programs to ensure the growth of the department.
  • Ensure timely and effective performance reviews for the department employees
  • Keep the Spa Director informed about the department, all employees’ performance, and guests and members concerns and comments.
  • Comply with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in the EmPact.
  • Convey clear instructions and guidance to staff and establish working relationships that attain a high level of effective employee morale.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Adhere to meal break policy and proper payroll procedures.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Education: A college degree preferably specializing in Business Management is preferable, however, not essential if applicants have previous relevant work experience as therapists or estheticians.
  • Experience: Knowledge of Spa Management and have creativity and strong marketing, communication and holistic skills. Applicants are required to have three to five years’ experience with diversity of Spa, Fitness and Wellness related positions.

  • Hours required: Eight hour shift; scheduled days and times may vary based on need.
