As a Training Supervisor, you will serve as a professional representative of Snowbasin Resort on an interdependent team dedicated to creating the best possible environment for teaching ski or snowboard lessons. In this role you will develop and implement training programs in alignment with the goals, vison, and instruction of the department. Additionally, you will supervise and assign staff members to lessons in addition to overall product management as a Training Supervisor, as well as instruct guests. Service is our product and helping guests have a wonderful and safe experience is a primary focus. Safety, fun, and learning are daily tasks in this position. Snowbasin is a PSIA/AASI school with certified staff.â¯
What will you be doing?
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and implement training curriculum for Ski and Ride School (i.e. new hire, rehire, children, adult, certification, etc.)
- Research and maintain industry standard training programs
- Record and maintain data (i.e. PSIA/AASI certification and accreditations, daily operations information, training attendance and participation/results, etc.)
- Prepare and update training materials in alignment with department processes and procedures
- Foster an environment of trust, respect, and build professional rapport with members of management and staff
- Develop training path and curriculum to build and grow the Training Team
- Mentor Instructors and create a positive and professional working environment
- Monitor and coordinate class assignments and assist as necessary as On Snow Supervisor
- Understand the abilities of staff members and allocate assignments ethically and appropriately
- Assist and support instructors with daily assignments and training throughout the day
- Approach guest concerns with empathy, patience, and attention. Resolve concerns in a respectful and professional manner
- Communicate daily concerns to appropriate management
- Understand and teach the NSAA Responsibility Codeâ¯
- Instruct groups of children, adults, or families for the day in a variety of activities including instruction, safety, lunch, special events, and to accept all duties as assigned by the On Snow Supervisor/ Program Managerâ¯
- Responsible for individual safety and the safety of guestsâ¯
- Continue to improve personal technical skills, teaching skills, people skills and knowledge, by attending mandatory and certification training throughout the seasonâ¯
- Act as guardian/caretaker for children in the absence of parent/guardianâ¯
- Maintain respectful and professional environment and attitude while working with all levels of ability and making the best terrain choice for developing skillsâ¯
- Understand and adhere to Ski and Ride School programs, prices, and lesson timesâ¯
- Read and comply with Snowbasin Employee Handbook and Ski/Ride procedures, including safety, grooming, professional attire, time management, and behavior standards.â¯
- Comprehend and act in compliance with information provided by department including Ski and Rideâ¯School bulletin boards, daily am huddle, weekly messages, and required monthly team meetingsâ¯
- Supply personal ski and board equipment, and maintains it in a safe, functional, appropriate, and professional conditionâ¯
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for all guest to encourage enjoyment, progression, and learningâ¯
- We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be asked to assist in other departments as neededâ¯

What do you need to be able to do the job?
Required experience
- Current PSIA/AASI DECL (Divisional Education Clinic Leader)
- Learning and development experience
- Ability to utilize Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.)
- Experience with e-learning platforms and Word Press
- High level of written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage time and resources
- Experience and ability to work with children and familiesâ¯â¯
- Excellent verbal and written communication skillsâ¯
- Reliable, on time, and committed to workingâ¯
- Must be able to work outside in extreme and quickly changing winter mountain conditions.â¯
- Patience and the ability to have lots of fun, while working with individuals of all ages and ability.â¯
- Ability to stand 6-7 hours per dayâ¯
- Capable of lifting 50 poundsâ¯
- Propensity to quickly react to complex and urgent circumstancesâ¯
- Ability to navigate Snowbasin Resort (base and slopes) in large crowds
