Principal Responsibilities
- Visually inspects all mechanical equipment on a daily routine inspection to check the equipment for proper operation.
- Changes or cleans filters on all air handling or A/C equipment, at intervals as required.
- Check belts and bearings on all equipment, changes belts and bearings as required.
- Lubricates all moving equipment parts as described in the preventive maintenance schedule or in the individual manuals, at intervals as requested.
- Checks and corrects where necessary, the tension of belts, alignments of motors and shafts.
- Records all service and repair works including materials or parts used into the designated Logbook. Logs all deficiencies observed for future reference and schedule time for replacement (repair).
- Make recommendations to maintenance managers for the correction of faulty equipment. Reports all equipment problems immediately.
- Carries out daily checks on emergency generator and condition of batteries, starts the emergence generator once weeks for a 15-min. test run. Records performance of generator and time of test into the designated Logbook.
- Carries out daily checks on fire alarm panel and condition of batteries, recharges batteries when necessary.
- Inform the maintenance managers of parts or materials required for the proper maintenance of the mechanical equipment.
- Carries a pager during his shift, checks proper operation of pager before attending to his shift and writes the number of his pager on the logbook in the maintenance shop.
- Attends to emergency calls when necessary.
- Carries out work of shift mechanics or general mechanics when necessary.
- Trains new employees in the handling of the HVAC and mechanical equipment.
- Fills in all service cards located by each equipment, after completing each task, with date, time and remarks.
- Observes all fire and safety regulations on his work place and elsewhere in the Hotel.
Key Result Areas
Business
- With Director of Preventative Maintenance, Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Coordinator, sets daily priorities for preventative maintenance work orders.
- Carries pager for purpose of timely response to work requests through the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintains records and logbooks as required.
Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure all guest issues/requests are resolved to their satisfaction.
Process Improvement/ Productivity
- Attends annual training for WHMIS, Ladder training, MSDS and other courses as suggested by Maintenance supervisors.
- Prioritizes work to optimize productivity and guest satisfaction.
Academic and Working Qualifications
Working Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in a maintenance environment.
Knowledge
Ability to handle many tasks at the same time.
Ability to operate all tools and equipment as required.
Adjusting controls, HVAC maintenance procedures.
Education
High School graduate, or equivalent.
Certificate in Air conditioning or Refrigeration.
Soft Skills
Exceptional customer service capabilities.
Effectively work within a team as well as independently.
Energetic and flexible, ability to work in stressful situations.
Language
Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Physical Requirements
Able to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings and overnight.
Ability to walk distances and ascend/d escend flights of stairs.
Ability to climb ladders
Agility to stand, bend, squat, stretch and kneel, Ability to stand for prolonged periods
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. (22 kgs)
