Job Responsibilities:

 

FOOD PREPARATION:

  • Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and station needs (mise en place).
  • Cook food items to order, following established recipes, cooking methods, and quality standards.
  • Ensure proper cooking temperatures and presentation of all dishes.

STATION MANAGEMENT:

  • Set up and stock the assigned cooking station with all necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment before service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout the shift.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen manager or head chef.

QUALITY CONTROL:

  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines 
  • Conduct regular temperature checks of food and equipment.
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients.
  • Identify and discard any expired or spoiled food items.

TEAM COLLABORATION:

  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff, including prep cooks, dishwashers, and servers, to ensure smooth service.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team to meet service demands.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE:

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., grills, fryers, ovens, slicers).
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment after use, reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs.

ADHERENCE TO STANDARDS:

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously strive to improve cooking skills and knowledge.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred 
  • Minimum 1-year experience cooking at a restaurant or full-service hotel preferred
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on business needs
