Job Description

The Head Bartender leads the bar team in delivering a world-class beverage experience defined by precision, creativity, and luxury. This role is responsible for bar service operations during assigned shifts, assisting with cocktail execution, team coaching, guest engagement, and ensuring the bar maintains Faena’s visual and service standards. The Head Bartender acts as a working leader, both behind the bar and on the floor, upholding the energy and excellence of the venue. 

This position has an hourly compensation of $24.00 per hour plus tips.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee the pace, quality, and consistency of all bar service during assigned shifts 

  • Ensure all drinks are prepared to spec, with correct technique, garnishing, and presentation 

  • Act as a mentor and lead by example for junior bartenders and barbacks 

  • Manage guest interactions, upsell opportunities, and address service issues as they arise 

  • Monitor bar mise en place, cleanliness, inventory levels, and guest engagement 

  • Coordinate shift setup and breakdown, ensuring stations are stocked and organized 

  • Maintain knowledge of menus, spirits, wine, and seasonal cocktails 

  • Support opening and closing checklists, POS setup, and financial reconciliation of bar sales 

  • Ensure glassware, tools, and ingredients are properly maintained and stored 

  • Assist with training of new bar staff 

  • Conduct recipe testing, and standards reinforcement with team 

  • Help implement beverage programming from the Wine Director 

  • Track performance, cleanliness, and prep standards for barbacks and bartenders 

  • Engage guests in a polished, entertaining, and professional manner 

  • Handle special requests, dietary restrictions, and signature drinks with discretion 

  • Foster a collaborative, high-energy bar culture rooted in hospitality and respect 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of bartending experience, including 1+ year in a leadership or lead bartender role 

  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, bar tools, and service technique 

  • Experience in luxury, nightlife, or high-volume settings preferred 

  • Familiarity with inventory management and bar operations 

  • Food Handler and Alcohol Safety Certification required or obtainable prior to start
