Established to self-perform renovation and construction projects, TRIP is a fast-moving and growing contractor specializing in hospitality environments. With multiple projects underway across the country, TRIP offers the opportunity to work on complex, guest-facing renovations with the backing of a national hospitality leader.

About the Opportunity
TRIP Contracting has partnered with Next Step Recruitment to lead the search for experienced Site Supervisors to support upcoming projects. Next Step Recruitment is managing the hiring process on TRIP’s behalf — reviewing applications, conducting initial screening, and introducing qualified candidates directly to TRIP’s project leadership team.

We are hiring two Site Supervisors to lead hotel renovation projects in Nova Scotia (Yarmouth and Sydney). Each project is approximately 4 months in duration, with the potential for extension or future assignments. These are contract roles — ideal for supervisors who thrive in a travel-based work model and are comfortable being fully on site for the duration of the project.

Important: Candidates may be based anywhere in Canada. Flights to and from project sites are arranged and paid for, and accommodation is provided at the hotel for the duration of the project. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada, with at least two (2) years of valid work authorization remaining.

As a Site Supervisor, you’ll live onsite at the hotel and take the lead in coordinating all daily construction activities. These are fast-paced interior renovation projects, where sequencing trades and maintaining schedules is critical — not only to project success, but also to hotel operations and guest experience.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Work directly with TRIP Contracting, part of InnVest Hotels, a stable and established company with projects nationwide

  • Fully travel-based role: flights arranged and accommodation provided at the project hotel

  • Lead the full execution of high-visibility renovation projects in live hotel environments

  • Competitive hourly rate ($45–$50/hr) on contract, paid directly with no deductions

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct all construction activity on site to maintain safety, workmanship, and efficiency

  • Plan and schedule daily work, sequencing multiple trades through guest room and amenity renovations

  • Coordinate closely with hotel operations teams to minimize guest disruption and communicate turnover timelines

  • Conduct safety meetings and ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements

  • Review drawings and scopes with Project Managers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project schedules

  • Manage site mobilization, daily logs, workforce coordination, and subcontractor oversight

  • Monitor material usage, deliveries, and storage; ensure correct specifications and efficient use of resources

  • Lead trade coordination meetings and liaise with consultants, inspectors, and hotel management

  • Track and report any scope changes to the Project Manager in a timely manner

  • Execute punch lists, deficiency lists, and warranty work at project closeout

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Site Supervisor or equivalent in construction, ideally with hotel, tenant improvement (TI), or commercial interiors projects

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple trades in tight timelines

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work directly with client-side hotel teams in live operating environments

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications; strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments

  • Valid forklift/telehandler certification (CSA standard under OHSA) required

  • Flexibility to travel and work variable schedules depending on project deadlines

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada, with at least two years of valid work authorization remaining

Work Environment & Logistics

  • Location: Current projects are in Yarmouth and Sydney, Nova Scotia. Candidates may live anywhere in Canada, as flights are arranged and paid for.

  • Accommodation: Provided at the hotel for the duration of the project.

  • Vehicle: Required on site. TRIP can provide one (must be insurable), or supervisors may use their own and be reimbursed for mileage.

  • Schedule: Six days per week, ~9 hours/day. Some supervisors may choose to work Sundays if needed to stay on schedule. Noisy work cannot begin before 8:30 a.m. due to hotel guest activity.

  • PPE: Required at all times. Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors with exposure to construction-related hazards.

Compensation

  • Hourly contract role, $45–$50/hour range

  • Paid directly as a contractor (no payroll deductions; candidates are responsible for their own tax remittances)
