JOB SUMMARY:
The Food Runner is a key connection between the kitchen and dining room, responsible for ensuring that dishes are delivered promptly, accurately, and in excellent condition. This position supports both the culinary and service teams by maintaining smooth communication, coordinating course timing, and presenting each dish with care and attention.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to the correct tables quickly and accurately
- Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant’s presentation and quality standards before they leave the kitchen
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen and service staff regarding course timing, special requests, and modifications
- Provide brief descriptions of dishes upon delivery, highlighting key ingredients or preparation notes when appropriate
- Assist in clearing and resetting tables during busy service periods to help maintain flow and efficiency
- Support servers and bussers with tasks such as refilling water, resetting tables, and responding to guest needs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expo line and service stations
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling guidelines
- Participate in opening, mid-shift, or closing responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and focus on plate accuracy and guest satisfaction
- Professional demeanor and team-first attitude
- Physical stamina to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid California Food Handler Certification
