The Hilton Garden Inn located in Jeffersonville, IN has an immediate opening for Chief Engineer.  This is an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer and we are actively looking to meet the best and brightest talent that the hospitality industry has to offer!
The Chief Engineer will be reporting to the General Manager. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded maintenance engineer with an extensive background in HVAC, plumbing, general maintenance and upkeep. This candidate must be sharp, energetic and detailed oriented with a distinctly hands-on management style.
 
Principle duties are as follows:
  • Three to five (3 to 5) years prior experience as a Chief Engineer in hotel or apartment environment a plus
  • Type I/II EPA certification with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of HVAC/Refrigeration experience preferred. This commercial building has water source heat pumps and operates with a cooling tower. Experience with water source heat pumps and roof top package units is a must.
  • Secure and oversee outside contractors to handle complicated equipment and building repairs when needed. Secure bids for in house projects as needed.
  • Produce accurate logs, charts and preventative maintenance forms for all HVAC related equipment/tasks
  • Operate HVAC equipment and mechanical equipment using sound engineering practices and specified hotel operating procedures
  • Trouble-shooting electrical and pneumatic problems and repair them in a timely fashion
  • General repairs experience with drywall, carpet and tile is a plus
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate and mentor team members to maintain optimal department operation and staff development
  • Working knowledge of budgets and purchasing procedures
  • Ability to create and implement Preventive Maintenance Programs
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work, communicate and maintain positive guest and colleague relations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Multi-tasking
  • Software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills exercising patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Pre-employment background screening will be conducted.
