Cashier
POSITION PURPOSE:
Organizes daily paperwork and handles all cash and receipts for the restaurant. Uses hospitality (Smile-Greeting-Eye Contact) in dealing with guests. Performs duties in a pleasant conscientious and professional manner to ensure satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work cards are to be on your person at all times.
- Inform the immediate supervisor of any product shortages and equipment needs.
- Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive and professional image.
- Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so. Comply with Board of Health Standards.
- Must maintain good personal grooming and uniform standards while on duty.
- Have knowledge of where your MSDS booklet is located for your area.
- Displays knowledge of all emergency procedures.
- Responsible for informing the immediate supervisor on duty of any team member or guest opportunities.
- Performs any other duties as directed by management.
- Promotes a safe and clean environment for fellow team members and guests.
- Always keep your work area clean.
- Services and handles all cash and receipts.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of P.O.S. and accounting system.
- Organizes all daily transactions paperwork.
- Tracks daily void tickets.
- Tenders all guest checks.
- Handles most of the phone answering duties in a friendly , helpful and professional manner.
- Greet guests and ask how their meal was..
- State the total of the check, amount of money given to you by the guest and the amount of change back.
- Always be accurate with money handling.
- Organize all checks and paperwork at the end of the shift and turn in work in a neat and organized manner.
- Responsible for handling of company funds through cash transactions on the P.O.S. system in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
- Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English, both in written and verbal form.
- Ability to make quick judgment decisions.
- Must be able to handle a flexible schedule.
- Ability to lift and carry full trays and bus tubs.
- Ability to negotiate stairs.
- Must be capable of lifting 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend and reach to a height of 6 feet.
- Requires normal, corrected vision range and absence of color blindness. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
- Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound. Requires regular and predictable attendance. Requires good verbal communication skills.
OTHER:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smokey indoor service. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 foot access. Task performed from a non-sitting position. Team members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of an assigned area and constant contact with team members and guests.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY:
- Have extensive knowledge of Micros or other P.O.S. system.
- Above average mathematics aptitude.
- Above average manual dexterity.
- Good people skills.
- Able to communicate and work well with others.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to handle company funds through cash transactions on the P.O.S. system in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D)
Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a fast-paced high energy service environment.
Licenses or Certificates: Must be able to obtain all required work cards for the jurisdiction in which the property is located.
