Bus Person/Runner
 
POSITION PURPOSE:
As a bus person, bus tables in a quick and quiet fashion, in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures.  Also, serve beverages to guests in a quick, efficient and courtious manner.
 
As a runner you are responsible for the stocking of the restaurant with front of the house supplies, maintaining cleanliness and health code requirements throughout restaurant service areas and stock room, transporting all dirty dishes, utensils and glassware to the dish room.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Work cards are to be on your person at all times.
  2. Inform the immediate supervisor of any product shortages and equipment needs.
  3. Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive and professional image.
  4. Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so.  Comply with Board of Health Standards.
  5. Must maintain good personal grooming and uniform standards while on duty.
  6. Have knowledge of where your MSDS booklet is located for your area.
  7. Displays knowledge of all emergency procedures.
  8. Responsible for informing the immediate supervisor on duty of any team member or guest opportunities.
  9. Performs any other duties as directed by management.
  10. Promotes a safe and clean environment for fellow team members and guests.
  11. Always keep your work area clean.
  12. Checks stations for adequate stock of silverware, dishes, napkins, ice, and condiments.
  13. Checks each table for completeness of setting.
  14. Checks dining area, tables and chairs for cleanliness.  Maintain good cleanliness and organization of bus stations and service.
  15. Greets guests and serves water upon request from a tray.
  16. Keeps station stocked throughout shift.
  17. #1 Priority:  As guest departs offer farewell greeting.  Clean and reset tables as quickly  as possible.
  18. Assist in service as directed by food servers, if activities due not conflict with basic functions.
  19. Performs posted side work and other duties as directed by management.
  20. Takes all dirty dishware and silverware to dish room and restocks with clean supplies from dish room.
 
 
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
  1. Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
  2. Abiltiy to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English, both in written and verbal form.
  3. Ability to make quick judgement decisions.
  4. Must be able to handle a flexible schedule.
  5. Ability to lift and carry full trays and bus tubs.
  6. Ability to negotiate stairs.
  7. Must be capable of lifting 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  8. Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend and reach to a height of 6 feet.
  9. Requires normal, corrected vision range and absence of color blindness.  Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  10. Requires eye/hand coordination.  Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound.  Requires regular and predictable attendance.  Requires good verbal communication skills.
 
 
OTHER:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky indoor service.  Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 foot access.  Task performed from a non-sitting position.  Team members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp.  These tasks include the maintenance and care of an assigned area and constant contact with team members and guests.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
 
Education: Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Grade school education preferred.
 
Experience: No experience required.  Prior hospitality experience preferred.
 
Licenses or Certificates: Must be able to obtain a health card for the jurisdiction in which the property is located.
