Description

Gravity Haus is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Backwaiter to join our hospitality team. The Backwaiter plays a key role in creating smooth, memorable dining experiences by supporting the front-of-house team, ensuring tables are properly set and cleared, and assisting with the timely delivery of food and beverages. This position bridges the kitchen and service teams, keeping operations running efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Support servers and expeditors by delivering food and beverages promptly to guests while ensuring proper presentation and accuracy.
  • Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently to maintain dining room flow and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor pacing of the dining room to anticipate service needs and assist teammates proactively.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of service stations, side stands, and dish areas throughout the shift.
  • Assist with polishing silverware, glassware, and flatware to maintain Gravity Haus’ service standards.
  • Partner with the expeditor to confirm that orders are complete, plated correctly, and delivered while hot and fresh.
  • Communicate clearly between front-of-house and kitchen teams regarding guest requests, allergies, or order adjustments.
  • Refill water, beverages, and bread service as needed; maintain attentive yet unobtrusive service.
  • Restock server stations with necessary items such as plates, cutlery, napkins, and condiments.
  • Uphold all health, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with company policies and local regulations.
  • Support the overall success of the restaurant by being ready to step into any role as needed during peak service times.

What We’re Looking For

  • 1+ year of restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team-first attitude — willing to assist wherever needed to ensure smooth service.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional with high attention to detail.
  • A passion for hospitality and creating meaningful guest experiences.
  • Ability to learn and retain menu details, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens.
  • A calm, composed presence during high-volume service periods.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move items up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout service.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
